I am a graduate with honours in fine art painting from the winchester school of art, england and a winner of the R K Burt (London) paper prize for outstanding achievement 2004 (see dissertation abstract).

I grew up in wiltshire, a landscape rich in ancient monuments, although I moved away from the county 20 years ago, these places have left a very deep impression upon me

Recently I visited the lascaux, font de gaume and combarelles cave paintings in france. I have also visited the american indian rock art sites in arizona (honanki and palatki) and worked alongside the archaeology department of southampton university, visiting neolithic rock carving sites in scotland

For me, such sites are symbolic of human endeavour and progress within the chaos of the natural world

It is the stillness, peace and tangible quietness of ancient monuments that inspires me to translate my experiences into art works

I see the process of making my paintings as analogous to the archaeological process; revealing inner emotions through discovery
